Bayer is proud to partner with local, regional and international groups to promote environmental learning.

  • International Children’s Painting Competition
Where can you find a global social program that unites art, science and education? Look no further than the 19th International Children’s Painting Competition, an annual event sponsored by Bayer Corporation, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Nikon Corporation.

World Environment Day in Pittsburgh (June 5, 2010) sets the stage for this year’s exciting competition, and the theme — "Biodiversity: Connecting with Nature" — is designed to help raise awareness around climate change. Children between the ages of six and 14-years-old are invited to illustrate their personal view of the environment.

  • C.A.U.S.E. Challenge High School Film Festival
Welcome to the Sixth Annual C.A.U.S.E. Challenge High School Film Festival, a six-week event between Earth Day (April 22, 2010) and World Environment Day (June 5, 2010).

C.A.U.S.E. stands for “Creating Awareness and Understanding of our Surrounding Environment.” And this inventive competition provides a platform for high school students not necessarily on a science track to become more scientifically- and environmentally-aware using the non-traditional, yet powerful tool of film or video.

  • Student Water Workshop
Sponsored by Bayer Corporation and held at the Carnegie Science Center, this interactive workshop led by Dr. Mae C. Jemison, astronaut, scientist, environmental studies professor and Bayer's longtime Making Science Make Sense spokesperson, will feature local middle school students tackling one of the world's most pressing problems — the global water shortage. Finding ways to deliver clean, drinkable water to the nearly one billion people around the world who don't have access to it will be one aspect of the workshop. In addition, the students will help solve regional and local water issues, including conservation, usage and protection of Pittsburgh's storied rivers and watershed.

  • Summer Sustainability Camp
Bayer is proud to partner with RiverQuest to create the Bayer Summer Sustainability Camp, which combines sustainability and science education to create a program addressing one of the biggest challenges the world faces today – climate change.

The camp brings together teens from around the world to learn about environmentalism and sustainability by researching and studying the rivers and ponds in Western Pennsylvania.
